General Motors Recalls Chevrolet Cruze due to Steering Wheel Defect

By admin on April 13, 2011 - No comments

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that General Motors (GM) is recalling approximately 2,100 Chevrolet Cruze vehicles from model year 2011 starting this month due to poor assembly of the steering wheel and steering column.

It is reported that the steering wheel may have been improperly attached to the steering column during the manufacturing of certain model year 2011 Chevrolet Cruze vehicles. As a result of poor assembly, the steering wheel may detach from the steering column. Should this occur while the car is in motion, the driver may lose the ability to steer, thus losing control of the car, which could lead to a crash.

It is essential that any Maryland resident who drives a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze take their car into the dealer as soon as possible so that they may ensure that the steering wheel and column are properly fastened. This is a free service and could prevent a Baltimore auto accident injury. Cruze owners may also contact Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438, or at the Owner Center at http://www.gmownercenter.com.

Unfortunately, the auto manufacturer, distributor, or dealer does not always initiate a recall when a vehicle is poorly manufactured or has defective components. Buying an automobile is expensive and can be a difficult process, especially when buying a used or pre-owned automobile. A prospective buyer wants to know that they are purchasing a safe and dependable car, but this is not always the case. Oftentimes, the result of a defective car or car product is a Maryland car crash injury. If you or a loved one was injured in an auto accident due to faulty manufacturing or defective auto products, you may be entitled to compensation for your losses.

Q: I've been injured. Why should I hire you instead of my family attorney?

A: No disrespect to your family attorney, but your family attorney most likely handles criminal law, divorce, wills, estates and personal injury. I handle ONLY INJURY CASES. My focus is on injury law 24 hours a day! As my slogan says: "If you've been injured, it makes sense to call the lawyer who handles ONLY INJURY CASES!!"
