Maryland State Police officials have arrested a Salisbury man wanted for questioning in a fatal hit-and-run motorcycle accident. This recent report in the Milford Beacon claims that the incident occurred around 3:20 in the afternoon on Monday, February 3, 2009. Delaware State Police officials say that the accident happened near the intersection of U.S. 13 and Whitesville Road in Delmar.
Police officials said that 25-year-old motorcyclist, Phillip Jester of Milford, hit the rear of a pickup truck driven by Justin Mitchell. Mr. Jester lost control of his motorcycle after hitting the truck, slid under a Honda Civic, and died of his injuries at the scene. The police claim that Mitchell continued without stopping after the accident occurred but was followed home by a witness. Mitchell was contacted by the Maryland State Police on his cell phone sometime later that day and was convinced to surrender to authorities for questioning. The motorcycle accident is still under investigation. Mitchell is being held at the Maryland State Police barracks pending his extradition to Delaware.
