A West Virginia man has entered an Alford plea in connection with an auto accident in Maryland that claimed the life of one man and injured four other people. According to this WHSV Channel 3 report, Joel Wareham, 22, of Martinsburg, admitted that the State of Maryland had ample evidence to convict him of negligent homicide, but did not admit any guilt for causing the accident.
The car accident occurred August 14 in Lisbon when Wareham allegedly crossed the center line on Frederick Road and struck a Ford Explorer head-on, killing 64-year-old Milton Bowens, Sr., and injuring four other passengers. Sentencing is scheduled for April 16.
